A friend and colleague recently lost his wife and best friend. She was about my age and much more cheerful than me.
A card isn't much, and I used to think it was nothing. But when my own father passed away and people took the time to send a card and say a word or two about my dad, I did actually appreciate it. So now, I send cards myself instead of just saying, "Oh, it doesn't matter."
